Individual Therapy with Jenn

Understanding yourself is the beginning. What you do with that understanding is the work. .

You can know exactly why you do something and still find yourself doing it. You recognize the pattern. You understand where it came from. You can even explain what you'd like to do differently. But when life happens, you find yourself right back in the same response. That's where much of our work begins. Individual therapy with me is about building awareness, learning to manage what that awareness brings up, and practicing new ways of showing up in your everyday life.

The Work We Focus On

My individual practice centers on three areas that often overlap.

Identity & Life Transitions
Who are you in this season of life? What still fits? What have you outgrown? Whether you're navigating changes in family, career, relationships, or your sense of self, we'll explore the expectations and patterns influencing your decisions and what you want moving forward.

Ambitious Adults & Entrepreneurs
You can love what you're building and still struggle with what it's costing you. We'll examine the demands you're carrying, how you respond to pressure, the boundaries you've established, and the habits shaping your relationship with work, success, rest, and the people in your life.

Personal & Relational Patterns
The ways we communicate, manage conflict, respond to discomfort, and relate to others rarely develop overnight. We'll identify the patterns showing up in your relationships, understand what maintains them, and practice responses that better reflect your intentions.

What Our Sessions Actually Look Like

We talk. We ask questions. We explore your experiences and make connections between what’s happening today and what you’ve learned along the way.

But we don’t stop at understanding. Depending on what we’re working through, I may draw from Internal Family Systems, somatic therapy, attachment-based approaches, polyvagal-informed practices, and spiritual integration when appropriate to your beliefs and goals.

That might look like noticing what happens in your body during a difficult conversation, recognizing the part of you that wants to withdraw or take control, practicing how to regulate your response, or examining the expectations you carry into relationships.

The goal is to move from awareness to application. We’ll identify what you can influence, explore what gets in the way, and develop practical ways to respond differently. Then we pay attention to what happens when you try.

Your Role in the Process

I bring the clinical knowledge, questions, perspective, and tools. You bring your experiences, your honesty, and your willingness to participate.

Here’s what I ask of the people I work with:

  • Be willing to look at yourself. Even when someone else’s behavior is part of the problem, we’ll spend our time identifying what is within your control.
  • Practice between sessions. The work doesn’t end when we log off. You’ll have opportunities to apply what we’re exploring in your relationships and daily life.
  • Be honest about what’s working and what isn’t. Progress isn’t always straightforward. We’ll talk about the attempts that went well and the ones that didn’t.
  • Take ownership of your decisions. My role isn’t to make choices for you. It’s to help you develop the awareness and skills to make them for yourself.

There will be room to vent, grieve, feel frustrated, and sit with difficult experiences. Those moments matter. But we won’t make talking about the problem our only goal. We’re working toward change, and we’ll regularly evaluate whether what we’re doing is helping you get there.

What Progress Can Look Like

Progress isn't always a dramatic breakthrough. Sometimes it's recognizing your activation before reacting. Having a conversation you've been avoiding. Setting a boundary and following through. Making a decision without needing everyone to agree with it. Sometimes it's realizing that another person's behavior hasn't changed, but your ability to respond to it has. That's the kind of progress we're paying attention to. Not just what you understand about yourself, but what you're learning to do with that understanding.
